Spend a pampering day with your mum!

Whenever your mum comes to visit, you are probably trying to organize the day, so it can be only about the two of you. We are here to give you some ideas about how to spend a relaxing, soul-raising and pampering day together.

Many live in a family where most of the family members stayed in the country side while the children moved to the capital city to study or work. And, of course, it’s always a wonderful experience to go home, take part in big family lunches, and tell all about your metropolitan life and new experiences while eating grandmother’s soup. But sometimes there simply isn’t enough time to take a trip home. For example, those weekends when you have only one day off from work, or have only a few hours to meet with your loved ones. 

So, when you have to stay in the big city for the weekend, and your mum agreed to visit you, don’t waiste time! If you have a whole day to spend together, you can do so many fantastic activities that would be enough for an entire week!  

Of course, you do not have to overpack the 10-12 hours you have together: it’s better to have two or three well-planned activities than six or eight. If you have too many things planned, you will only remember being exhausted instead of the wonderful time you had together. Therefore, we suggest that you do not start the day too early. Have a cup of tea or coffee to get in the mood for the day, chat for a while, or talk about what you may want to try out on your mother and daughter day. 

If you have the plans and reservations (where you need it), then head for the city! If you live in one of the central districts of Budapest, you can connect the first activity with a short sightseeing tour — your mum will appreciate if you show her around Budapest, highlighting the places you love the most. This will make her feel a lot closer to you. 

It’s a great start, if — after the sightseeing stroll — you relax in your favourite city spa, where you can both enjoy a pleasant massage. This way you will feel relaxed at the beginning of the day, release the stress accumulated during the week, and you will be ready to enjoy the rest of the activities planned for the day. After the massage, make sure to discover the wellness section of the spa, and enjoy the wonderful healing effects of the sauna. Have a cup of tea afterwards, or if you get hungry in the meantime, you can find cosy restaurants nearby most city spas, where you can have a nice lunch.

You are relaxed, refreshed, and full now... Are you ready for some beauty treatments? Let yourself be pampered in an elegant beauty salon where you can choose from different treatments. Would you prefer body shaping or cosmetic treatments? Maybe you would be more interested in a nice manicure and pedicure instead? 

And if you feel like it — and you still have some time left after the beauty salon —, go to the hairdresser! What would you like to have? Washing-drying for you, a refreshing cut for your mum, or vice versa? The choice is yours! Many hairdressers in Budapest will accept you without registering, but of course, if you want to make sure, we recommend you to book an appointment in advance, which you can do online in many salons.

The day has passed quickly, hasn’t it? If — after the refreshing beauty treatments — you still feel like the day cannot end here: try to buy last minute theatre tickets, or go to a restaurant you’ve always wanted to. It will surely crown your perfect mother-daughter's day! ;)
