Heal yourself with the power of waters!

Why would you take medication when nature offers cures for a lot of health problems? There are for instance the thermal waters that can help alleviate symptoms. Tell us where it hurts and we'll tell you where to go for a bath!

Musculoskeletal disorders, recharging

Do you feel like every bone in your body hurts or are you just exhausted? Then you should look for the so-called regular thermal waters with a temperature of at least 30 degrees, not only relieving musculoskeletal problems, but also helping you feel more refreshed. If you use these thermal waters as a drinking treatment, you can experience their anticonvulsant effects too.

Spalneo recommends: you can complete your massage therapy in the summer with the services of the Csillaghegyi beach or Rómaifürdő and visit Zalakaros in the winter. Here you can find more accommodation choices near the spa, click for more details! (links to Zalakaros accommodations).

Gynecological troubles

Chloride infused water or salt water can be used to alleviate or even eliminate your gynecological problems. The anti-inflammatory effect of chloridic waters has long been known and can also relieve musculoskeletal pains and mucous membrane catarrhal diseases.

Spalneo recommends: in addition to healing gynecological problems, the water of the bath of Hajdúszoboszló helps to fight against many other diseases. Stay in the Hotel Délibáb which is just a few steps away from the bath. If you want to combine your holiday with active programs, don’t miss out on the Aqua-Palace Indoor Adventure Bath!

Osteoporosis

If your mom is concerned about the painful symptoms of osteoporosis or she complains regularly about the pain caused by it, take her to a healing bath in calcium-magnesium bicarbonate infused or a calcareous-ground water. These spa waters are not only effective against osteoporosis but also with musculoskeletal complaints, and they also have anti-inflammatory effects.

Spalneo recommends: in Rudas, Gellért or Lukács baths in Budapest - after a pleasant bath, award yourself and your mom with a nice massage too! The aromatic massage in Lukács is great, Rudas has relax massages (remember: the female day is on Tuesdays) and in Gellért you could both go for a citrusy refreshing massage. You will definitely not regret any of those.

Skin diseases

We know that relatively few people can tolerate the characteristic odor of sulfur water for a long time, but if you are looking for natural cures for skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema, you should definitely take a dip in the sulfur-containing medicinal water of one of the Hungarian baths. Such waters also have antihypertensive and anti-inflammatory effects, and improve the feeling of well-being, while drinking them is also beneficial for respiration.

Spalneo recommends: in addition to the Budapest baths, you can visit Eger, where you can try the Turkish bath near the local thermal bath (they are directly connected). By the way, Eger is a really charming little town where you can find many attractions and all kinds of accommodations.

5 good advices on what to do when going to a bath:

1. Before you begin: If you are unsure whether any of the thermal waters are good for you, ask your doctor’s opinion and advice.

2. You may feel pain during treatment or you may feel that your condition is getting a bit worse. Don’t panic, you might just have to modify your treatment a little.

3. Always have a rest after a bath.

4. Do not stay in hot water pools for more than 40 minutes at a time.

5. The microclimate of bathing areas has a stress-relieving, soothing and relaxing effect due to the prevalence of negative ions in the air. You should definitely take advantage of that and spend some time relaxing there.

When should you avoid thermal waters?

The thermal waters are not for everyone – if you’re aware of any current or earlier illnesses, it might be better to avoid them, because they can cause more trouble than benefits. For example, if you have irregular, rapid heartbeats or untreated thyroid goiter, do not go to baths.

It is also recommended to look at other things to fill your free time with your family or friends if one of you has had an heart attack over the past three months, or has an infectious, feverish illness, has very high blood pressure, has a serious skin injury or has any kind of kidney failure. It is not advisable to visit baths in any weakened state or during menstruation or pregnancy, as there is a greater risk of infection.

If, however, you’re not struggling with the problems listed here, we believe it is worthwhile to visit a bath even just for prevention purposes. Just think about how much time we spend sitting all day in the office, and then how bad of a conscience we have about not moving all week. And as we all know: with regular exercise, many diseases can be prevented. And you have to start somewhere - then why not enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of a bath and the blessing of the waters? Invite your mom, make a girl’s day with a girlfriend or just take a couple of hours for yourself and relax a bit.

Did you know? The medicinal waters can help you as a drinking treatment too if you don’t feel your 100% best. We will tell you more about it in a later article.
