Hajdúszoboszló, known as the Mecca of People with Rheumatism, is one of the most famous bathing spots not only in the Great Plain but also in the country. Since its special medicinal water attracts a lot of visitors every year, hotels and services have been built serving the needs of tourism. In the city's catering units almost everything can be found from classical restaurants to Hungarian Csárda.
In the summer season, the city is characterized by a real festival atmosphere, with the essential elements of gastronomic flavours, music and dance. The series of tourist events is opened by Hajdúszoboszló Barbecue and Beer Festival in May and closed by Hajdúszoboszló Organic Food and Wine Festival in September.

In 1925, in Hajdúszoboszló, as a consequence of deep drilling, the 75 °C thermal water broke out from approximately the depth of 1100 meters. Based on analysis it was found that the thermal water is iodine, bromine, saline, hydrogen carbonated. Studies have shown that the water contains bitumen and related oestrogen, as well as various trace elements: titanium, vanadium, copper, zinc, silver, strontium, barium and lead.
The 75 °C hot water is cooled to 32-38 degrees Celsius, depending on the pools.
The pools of the Spa have a filling-drainage system throughout the year.
